The first HEyeWall setup in 2005 offered an unmatched visual resolution compared to standard projection systems as it enabled the visualization of brilliant pictures and stereoscopic 3D models. Its screen was 5 meter wide. Six by four units and 48 projectors and 48 PCs in total achieve a resolution of 18 mega pixel (6144 x 3072 pixel resolution).
In 2008 its successor tops these specifications. The latest model features a total resolution of 35 mega pixel (8160 x 4000 pixel resolution). It is twice as bright as the first one. And it features a modular expandable interaction concept: Multi-Touch Wall, iPod Touch Control, Spacemouse, WiiMote, ...
The Multi-Touch Wall's technology is unique. 24 infrared cameras are recognizing the user's gestures from behind the wall. This enables an unmatched precision of the interaction.
The high resolution of the visualization and the multi-touch interaction makes totally new applications possible. Common multi-touch systems' images are getting blurry when standing too close. Standing a shoulder-length away from the HEyeWall the display is still so sharp that you can't recognize a single pixel.
